Brungmarka Ski Camping

  • 22-24/01/21

A great start to our ski-camping season.  We stayed close to home, and had lots of deep snow on the ground and steep forested terrain to navigate through, with snow hanging prettily on the branches and some lovely views.

Friday evening: Brøttem to camp 1 (red dot N of Bløstertjønnin), by the light of the moon, mostly following a clear wide track through the forest, but with a diversion near the start when we tried to find a shortcut along a footpath, that turned out to be too steep and thickly forested for us on skis.

Saturday: Camp1 to camp2, the direct route; thick forest and narrow valleys with no marked trails made progress slow, but a fun adventure through a pretty landscape.

Sunday: Camp2 back to Brøttem - the longer, quicker route; we took advantage of some snow scooter trails from Dalsvollen to Låkkåtjønna, speeding up our progress significantly, then it was into one of the most stunning narrow wooded valleys of the weekend, before crossing some lakes to get back to our first camp and then gliding back down the hill to the car.
