Rockhopping at -10'C

  • 08-10/11/19

What better to do in on the first weekend of the season below -10'C than to go out in a kayak in search of the biggest waves on offer?!

A and I joined a group of 20 paddlers from TKK to spend a chilly autumn weekend brottpadling (rock hopping) off the coast of Hitra.  My pictures make it look tame, as we had a lovely sheltered paddle out to the surf and skerries, but there were surfs, rolls, swims and rescues a plenty - and yet more scratches on my helmet to show for it.

We stayed at Storm Brygghus, Kvenvær, which I can't recommend strongly enough.

Some of what I get up to outdoors

I'm from Scotland but currently live in Trondheim.  Most of my free time goes to the outdoor activities shown here, but away from this I am an electronics engineer and also like playing music in my spare time.
