Ramskardet Weekend
-
11-13/03/22
Back in the spectacular winter landscape of Skarvan og Roltdalen national park, for a few days of skiing.
A new colleague had spoken with me about being interested in trying ski camping. Earlier in the season we had a weekend away in a cabin for his first shot on cross country skis, and now we were going to add camping to the mix. A couple of weeks earlier he had his first ski-camping trip with a mutual friend, who by the time of this trip has started a solo ski from Tromsø to Kirkenes.
We set of on Friday evening with a lovely evening light, and a strong breeze, and had a short ski before setting up camp, building a comfy bench from the snow to sit and cook on, and enjoy the northern lights dancing above us. On Saturday we skied over towards Schultzhytta before turning up into Ramskardet in the setting sun, and a windy night under Fongen mountain to the south. On Sunday the wind had gone and there was a pleasant warmth to the sun as we skied down towards Ramsjøhytta and then back up to the car waiting by Bjørneggen.
